The Best Pregnancy-safe Skincare on a budget

5 best pregnancy-safe skincare products on a budget

What actually worked for my skin (without stressing me out)

Pregnancy changed a lot of things for me. How I eat, how I sleep (or don’t sleep 😅), and definitely how I take care of my skin. Between hormonal breakouts, sudden dry patches, and needing to double-check ingredients, my old skincare routine just wasn’t cutting it anymore. I wanted simple products that were safe, gentle, and actually made me feel good about my skin.

After some trial and error (and many late-night Google searches), I found a few go-to skincare products that made a big difference. Everything , but they worked for me, and I kept coming back to them throughout my pregnancy.

Here’s a quick look at the 5 products I kept reaching for throughout pregnancy. Keep scrolling for my honest thoughts on each!

Skincare favorites pregnancy edition

I’ve always liked using Vitamin C because my skin tends to look a bit dull in general, and this one was a more budget-friendly option compared to the Ole Henriksen serum I used to love. I’m usually sensitive to niacinamide, so I was a bit nervous to try this, but surprisingly no issues! (Although my partner tried it too and had a reaction, so go easy if your skin is picky.)

Let’s just say I learned the hard way that pregnancy makes your skin way more sensitive to the sun (apparently I would not believe it until I looked like a beautiful lobster after spending 30 minutes outside) even if that wasn’t an issue before. This sunscreen has a bit of a white cast (especially if you don’t blend it in well), but it did the job and did not break me out, and I liked that it was mineral-based. It became a non-negotiable part of my morning routine.

Hydration became a huge priority, especially postpartum when I started getting dry patches like never before. This serum really helped keep my skin balanced. I’d apply it under moisturizer and it just made my face feel plump, soothed, and less tight. No frills, but super effective.

This was a once-a-week kind of product for me. I used it sparingly and always made sure to pair it with a good moisturizer and sunscreen the next day. It helped when my skin felt textured or congested, but I was extra cautious and always patch tested before using. Definitely ask your doctor before using acids during pregnancy, but personally, this helped keep my skin feeling clear and smooth.

This has been my go-to moisturizer for years, and it stuck with me through pregnancy too. I’ve always loved this moisturizer. It’s not greasy, it absorbs fast, and it’s perfect for oily or combination skin like mine. It was gentle enough for pregnancy and postpartum, and it really helped when my skin felt dry or irritated. Just reliable and low-maintenance, which I really needed.

Final Thoughts
I kept things really simple while pregnant. No complicated routines, no 10-step skincare. These products made me feel taken care of without adding more stress to my day. If you’re going through the same changes and wondering what to use, I hope this helps as a starting point.

Every pregnancy (and every skin type) is different, so listen to your body and don’t hesitate to talk to your doctor or dermatologist.
